Dripping with mayonnaise this Chicken Fried Oyster Mushroom Sandwich is just what the doctor called for. Served alone as an appetizer, the fried oyster mushrooms are a great taste substitute for fried shrimp or calamari.

Ingredients

Chicken Fried Oyster Mushrooms
4 large round Oyster Mushrooms
1/2 cup sunflower or peanut oil
1 large Egg beaten
1/2 cup White flour
1 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
fresh ground salt
black pepper
Make your sandwich
4 soft fresh Potatoe buns or sandwich rolls
8-12 slices tomatoe
1 cup lettuce Coarsely shredded
1 bottle mayonnaise More is always better.

Chicken Fried Oyster Mushroom Sandwich, Preparation

  1. Select whole mushrooms to be fried. 2 or 3  mushrooms per sandwich depending on the size.
  2. Preheat oil to 350*F in a small skillet or sauce pan.
  3. Beat egg with milk in a small bowl
  4. On a large plate, or flat surface, mix the flour, cumin, garlic powder, and salt and pepper.
  5. When the oil is hot, dip the mushrooms into egg, then flour, the egg again, and the flour a second time.
  6. Fry mushrooms for about 1 minute on each side, or until they begin to brown slightly.
  7. Remove and transfer to paper towels for about 1 minute, then assemble your sandwich while the mushrooms are still hot.

Serving suggestions

Assemble the sandwich using, soft potato buns or sandwich rolls, sliced tomatoes, leaf lettuce, and mayonnaise. Salt and pepper to taste.
