BRUNO Cucina

The newest Italian restaurant in Querétaro Bruno Cocinia, which opened in October of 2015, has become our new favorite. First I have to say that I love Mexican food, and living in Mexico we eat Mexican food almost daily, so when when we go out to eat, we eat Italian.

With this , my first restaurant review, I must say that to really be able to compare restaurants you must compare apples with apples. At an Italian restaurant, for example, the three menu items I will always sample are the gnocchi, eggplant parmigiana and the tiramisu.

At Bruno you will begin with a warm focaccia plus a small cup of cooked tomatoes and olive oil. The mixed salad was simple but very colorful with the addition of beets and corn. As an appetizer we found the grilled artichoke to be so very tasty with a ¨just off the grill smoked flavor¨, a little too much salt for my taste but still something we have since ordered again. For the main course, I had to try the gnocchi with pesto sauce. The sauce was outrageous, really, just like I make at home, thick with basil and no skimping on the amount  sauce either.  My wife had the spinach and cheese raviolis which were baked to perfection, with plenty of red tomato sauce and topped with lots of cheese. I had the tiramisu for dessert which was incredible, I think it was the biggest and best tiramisu I have ever eaten.

BRUNO is a bit on the pricey side, but they do offer a lot of very creative vegetarian options.
